I’ll Be The First Black Woman

So Imma be the first black woman to say, with all that politeness and civility going on between Clinton and Obama tonight, seated in comfy seats with lots of pages to spare in notepads with good working pens (shout out to Pilot Percise V5-I love that pen), I’m torn.

But if I could vote for Clinton and Obama for Co-President I would. But you say, Comeback Girl comeback to this earthly world, it ain’t happin. But I say if its possible for one little black girl to channel John “You’re Wrong” Mclaughlin at 7, anything is possible.

I’m the product of an all woman’s college with love/hate not so love relationships with the mothers of the early and contemporary feminist movement which at times would have me engaged in debates with myself and others about which am I first? Black or a woman. Most times my race won, but there were others where gender came first.

And of course Obama represents the ultimate breath of fresh air and everything that Shirley Chisolm and Jesse Jackson couldn’t quite mobilize in both blacks and whites alike. I will say he made a few polite jabs at Clinton on her Iraq war vote in 2001. Its an easy jab especially when you doing your thing in the state senate. And not the US Senate. Yall know what they say about hindsight.

I am a little disappointed in one thing tonight kids. I peeped, Alfre Woodard, Steven Spielberg, Rob Reiner (did you see his eyes roll when Obama called out the studios on reponsible filmaking), Diane Keaton, Isaiah Washington, Stevie Wonder….but WHERE oh where was my birthday mate, my other childhood idol-Barbara Striesand. If you’ve never seen Yentl, The Way We Were, Funny Girl, The Mirror Has Two Faces–Comeback Kids you haven’t lived.
