I guess part of the problem always stems around expecting public Black figures to walk on water (even amidst Sen. Craig’s ‘Sorry I dropped the toilet paper” scandal, where everything quitely goes away) I really thought Mayor Kilpatrick could do no wrong. I mean he is one of the best and brightest young political leaders who is poised to take Detroit to a new level. The “recession” has hit Dtown harder even given the plight of the once booming industrial automaking town. Recently I heard Kilpatrick say that Detroit saved this country during times of economic depression and now its time for the country to help Detriot. I’ve always believed that he was going to take the town into something new. Maybe revamp Detriot into a tech sector (courting even perhaps some of the black tech companies), along with training many of its residents.

But now there’s a bit of an umm glitchproblem on the radar. He reportedly engaged in racey text messaging with this woman, a city worker.

And apologized to Detroit and his wife last night on tv here. So many questions that Comeback Girl has, so little answers. It also makes me wonder about state of black relationships. Affairs are usually NEVER about another woman per say. I’ve read from a husband and wife psychologist that usually its about the thrill. The excitement of getting “away with something”-during times of the “ho-hum” of marriage. And that thrill becomes almost like a drug. Well, I guess the high points are that no phone was compromised by Mrs. Kilpatrick—I guess what doesn’t come out in the wash comes out in the rinse** (**Workcited Great Gramma Ethel Ross circa 1956)-ain’t really ever any real reason to snoop.

  • wow…sorry to hear about this whole detroit relationship exploding on the media…an affair can mean many things, but it’s basically a breakdown in communication in my opinion.

most men would rather have a quick fix on the side than work on their own issues…sad but true.

as a man, i want a woman that’s constantly growing in the relationship…some women would say that I want to change them and resist, but is it bad to want good change….hmmmmm???

  • As of late, I’ve heard a lot of people say “I feel bad” or “Poor Kilpatrick” … but I just can’t feel the sympathy.

I guess there are “valid” reasons for cheating (or so I’m told), but he cheated on his wife, was dumb enough to talk about it on gov’t property, and left a paper trail.

He did dirt … he got caught. Its a shame he was a prominent black figure … but you do dirt … you pay for it in the end.

    Maybe its just me …
