Comeback Lovelies, I have decided to fully and completely resurrect the Black Man Plan. You know where fabulous Black Women start to look critically yet fairly at dating and take drastic self-empowering measures to get the love we want, need and deserve.
Yesterday evening I had to take some rather self-empowering steps into my own hand via my service provider (Nasdaq: T). I had to delete my text feature on my beloved phone, why? Because men are not using it responsibly and for courtship. It hurts my heart when one or two major contenders want to ask me about my day, my mama, and check my schedule for a date inside 120 characters.
Here is the audio

TExting has definitely gotten out of control… I feel you… I love texting and all for little things that are fast and quick… but they literally want to have full blown conversations now via text.

I actually had a guy ..tell me he was at my house by texting. I replied, “would a phone call hurt..I’m assuming you must not have any minutes left on your phone” he immediately called. no man wants to be called “cheap” but I feel you Comeback when a man discovers I have a blackberry they feel they can email, text, gchat, or blackberry messenger you for courtship. WRONG!

Amen Praise JESUS. We need to start some type of revolution. The problem is that there are some women who sit around and entertain this nonsense. I work in wireless eng..and I am seriously thinking about pitching something to Product Development. The concept would be similiar to a ring tone that is different for various calling party numbers.
The SMS point to point delivery would hit the SMSC (platform) and if you had decided that you DID NOT want to recieve a text from “John Doe”. The platform via the sender’s (MDN) number would return: “John pick up the dam$n phone and call {Jane}. Stop being lazy.”
The other problem again is what we as women think is appropriate…this is fallout out from women who have no problem having long drawn out convos via text messaging.
But I fixed THEM all now. I haven’t got one text in 24 hours and it feels good.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Comeback please don’t do this because:
-If you are getting work-related messages as well as personal then keep it because work comes first.
-It doesn’t solve the real issue-telling these dudes over the phone that it isn’t acceptable is self-empowering, turning off text because of their behavior is self-sacrificing.
When I was in grad school I noticed that no one spoke to each other everything was via text especially girls who were dating. I mean they would have 30 minute text conversations! But when I told them that me and man rarely text each other they were surprised. I told them that “he didn’t meet me via text so why would I make text a main part of our relationship?” I had to convince some young girls not to accept text messaging by telling or texting the men that this wouldn’t be a primary form of communication. Comeback you are getting this drama because they probably deal with some girls that allow that shit so they think they can do it with a grown woman.

Mik/Jolie/B : I’m glad you found it funny. Do I have a voice for radio??? Maybe thats my second calling???
B: I HADDDDDDDDDDDDDD to do it. My mother is also sends IMs that go to my phone if Im not on- And NO ONE from work texts except for peers. My manager CALLS or IMS or EMAILS. Not an excuse tof this drastic measure I had to take.

Texting has gotten out of control. I’ve gotten booty calls and one guy even had the nerve to propose to me via text. Both text messages got the same WTF response from me.

Okay Comeback well in that case I understand.
If refrence to the booty call via text..it would probably go like the text I just received an hour go from a friend that wanted to lick… (you get the idea) for my birthday tomorrow. What kills me is that I grew up with him and this brother is married?!!! Another thing is that messages like that will get you in trouble. I could have shown it to his wife!

This is so sad.
First, embrace the 21st centuary. Technology is nothing to be scared of.
When texts replace the phone I can feel ur pain. But ur nuts to not acknowledge texts as a value form of communication.
Hope these ridiculous demands work for you. Good luck.

“When texts replace the phone I can feel ur pain.”
To SOME men they have. And that IS my beef. If the men I was meeting knew how to use it responsibly, I wouldn’t have a problem with a quick “whats up”, but when you running out of character space and I’m getting a message 2 of 1…we have A BIGGER problem.

with one of my “friends”, I’ll typically send her a text at 6 or 7 on a Friday that says nothing but “what’s good?”. At this time, she’s usually at happy hour or something with her girls, so a phone conversation wouldn’t work. She replies with a text letting me know if she’s coming over later (like 1 or 2), if she wants me to go to her place, or if she’s just chillin.

Thanks Champ. “what’s good?” not to be mistaken for “how are you”? Well at least its quick and to the point. And your “friends” understand the code. I guess I can’t be mad at that.

i don’t even own a cell phone. how about that?
i DON’T CARE what anyone has to say about it.
i do just fine w/out one. trust.
loud ring tones, texting and poor cell phone etiquette irk the F*CK out of me.
however, i still get occasional ‘text to land-line’ messages. ugh! and i also get texts to my email (which isn’t so bad).
i would have to say that i would be highly irritated with some of the nonsense mentioned in the comments above. people have become way too detached when it comes to communication. if that brother can’t pick up the phone than he can BYPASS me altogether.
you can’t even call me for some booty? you have to send me an electronic note? we shouldn’t be getting out roll out then. waaaay too casual.
but, some people LOVE to text. my sister is a texting queen. but she is also, unlike her sister(me), NON PERSONALBLE. hardly the warm and fuzzy type — so it works for her. she has a great time texting.
i could rant forever on this. i am so ANTI texting.
anyhoo, i agree — DISCONNECT to RECONNECT.
