Get Your Mind Right! Part 1

get you mind right

**update: So to not saturate the discussions here between SSS and myself with Real Housewives of ATL (If the black socialte comes on to discuss with us (I reached out to her last Friday)-I’ll move the Housewives post back to the top), I’ve decided to add the original post that I was going to do for our discussion.***

I don’t think I’ve ever read my on again, off again, off again, really really off again blog brother, SBM, talk about “Life Being Good” in the 6 or 7 months I’ve been faithfully reading his blog. Which is why I didn’t get my hopes up too high when he followed it a few hours later with “The Bad Part”, detailing notions of racism not being over and the black folk who think that one election could erase all of Jim Crow’s residue, along with the mini-discourse that resulted as we wrangled with accountability and life just sucking badly.

***And let me just close my Mary Poppins umbrella for a minute*** I’d like to vouch for the fact that the dow just tanked almost 500 points on unemployment data yesterday. The US Dollar to Euro exchange is at 0.7787. Late June/early May of this year showed a steep dip as low as .63. The global economy is taking serious hits on almost every financial indicator.

***opens umbrella***But I’m grateful I have a job that allows me to tie my worth to cost savings and revenue generation in a product that’s almost reccession proof. I see huge lessons of fiscal responsibilty (personal and political). I see opportunity in some real estate locations not just in my area, but all over the country. I see Mikki buying real estate for little to nothing, which inspires me to stick my foot back into some of the RE investment water. I see the opportunity to become more entrepreneurial. I see what happens when one depends deeply on one source of income. I see the importance in having multiple marketable skills that are compatible in all economic seasons.

But most importantly I see what happens (and quickly) when a man thinks big, moves steadily toward actionable steps, and stays the course. I’m more than euphoric about the fact that President-Elect Barack Obama has shown others how to dream the “impossible dream”, I’m not so euphoric about how the blueprint of his success has gone largely over most people’s heads, particularly the one’s who continuously find themselves down on their luck-but now super elated with unmanaged expectations and lemonade made of pixie dust with two packs of splenda.

***do I sound like a Republican yet? …ok, just wait then for my closing paragraph..lol***

Self-Determination may be the new un-sexy, sexy. But so is the idea of being life’s victim. There really aren’t any excuses-and to me honestly there never were. Not being black. Not not having a father. Not being born in HI. Not being a product of a single mother.  There are no excuses. Not even racism.

  • Ok, so I was wondering why no one had commented on this post, it’s new.

First off I would like to say, YAAAAAAAAAY!!!! I got the job a.k.a promotion a.k.a substantial increase in pay.

Comeback I owe you one, that horoscope link that you sent me that said that my financial day of change being on the 28th was right on point!!

I’m soooo happy rright now, it was just what my spirits needed…my appt with my lawyer was also on the 28th and now I have a substantial settlement pymt also head my way.

Times had gotten so hard yall both emotionally and financially but I remained optimistic and the Lord has truly blessed me.

Also the recent win of President Elect Obama and turning of my state blue has given me hope that one day I too could lead.

    That is all for now!!

  • “I’m soooo happy rright now, it was just what my spirits needed…my appt with my lawyer was also on the 28th and now I have a substantial settlement pymt also head my way.”

wow T..that is good news indeed. Congrats. I knew you would turn the ship around.

  • Teacia,
Good looking out…paid some you taxes huh? Man, seems like those boys from Detroit can hit it right…it’s so cool cause it’s like around that time you took some time for you to really do the right thing! Positive energy brings positive results…keep up the good work.

    Much love,
    Jaclynn

  • congrats Teacia…continued blessings to you and yours!!!

comeback: i like this post much more than what you had previously (im an opponent of reality tv lol)

You’re right. Hard work is not sexy. What isn’t widely understood however is nothing comes easy; the only thing that comes easy is nothing!

  • “Particularly the one’s who continuously find themselves down on their luck-but now super elated with unmanaged expectations and lemonade made of pixie dust with two packs of splenda”

I am happy you did this post, the fact remains that people should realize that no president black or white is going “fix” there issues, its always been up to us to deal with our circumstances I mean really can you call up your new cousin and say “pay my rent” chances are not that high….

I believe that one should look to themselves to be successful Obama restores faith that was once lost by our people which is good, but action should be proceeded by this new found hope, Obama is NOT gonna make it rain for black folks, you still need to get up look for a job (not just by the paper) and make it do what it do.

    congrats Teacia!

please make that money do what it do!! don’t let me hear bout no new rims!!

  • @ Comeback……Here it is :)

So I’ve been thinking about this and I do agree that life is all about self-determination. I hate when people live life with the “woe is me” attitude.

I’m still pondering on this though……

  • Comeback, his road to success, didn’t go over my head so I feel you on this post:

It goes back to setting goals for yourself; and yes, a “list” is needed. Write them down so you can see them. Let them be embedded in your heart and mind.

Even if others doubt that your goals aren’t obtainable—the only thing that matters is—DO YOU THINK THEY ARE OBTAINABLE? If you do, then you must take action (and the key word here is ACTION) towards those goals.

Now, the road isn’t going to always be easy and there may be some times you cry out to the Lord, but He will give you the strength and the stamina to keep going if it’s part of His divine plan for you. Sometimes giving up is not an option.

  • *making a list, checking it twice*

    Ladies,
I have something that I am so excited and I hope it works out…I have down so much toward making some goals and I sincerely hope it works for me. Man…it’s been a long journey for every body around now we just have to keep it moving….

    Me and all these letters!

  • I think comeback should find a link to this song

its so great for this post

    robin thicke “tie my hands”

  • Thanks guys!! Comeback yeah, self determination is def the new un-sexy sexy.

Mikki girl, I already got some 20’s…now if I change them I’m selling them and upgrading to 22’s…”My president is black, my Lambo’s blue
And I’ll be goddamned if my rims ain’t too…”

…well my car is red, but i’m thinking about getting it repainted. But yes Mikki every single piece of debt I have will be paid off before 2009!!

  • “yes Mikki every single piece of debt I have will be paid off before 2009″

and Teacia remember it was not long ago that you didn’t think that was exactly possible now look at cha.

People don’t realize how what they do with money now affects the future, and when you do right by your money, whether its giving, paying off debt, paying bills on time or just plain being responsible, it will comeback 10 fold, I have learned this and this is a principle i intend to apply for the rest of my life.

  • @ Jac “Positive energy brings positive results…keep up the good work.

this is the TRUTH. Its like a snowballing thing. The more success you have with things the more success that feeling of success brings (does that make sense???) like attracting more of the same. The converse is sadly also true.

@ Why ..”Hard work is not sexy. ”

I feel like when you are doing what you really enjoy doing it doesn’t feel like work. Between my job, this blog, and two other creative projects– Im on like 3 hours of sleep. And I LOVE TO SLEEP. But i like what im doing thus, i could do it all the time. And I think that people respond to passionate living/work. Its like a drug that everyone wants a peice of. Inspired living is addictive.
    @ Mikki

“I believe that one should look to themselves to be successful Obama restores faith that was once lost by our people which is good, but action should be proceeded by this new found hope, Obama is NOT gonna make it rain for black folks, you still need to get up look for a job (not just by the paper) and make it do what it do.”

B-I-N-G-O…im all for a good celebration…but when are we gonna get crackin with our own community/indiv. change. Re Robin Thicke..let me see if I can find it.

@ Teacia “…”My president is black, my Lambo’s blue
And I’ll be goddamned if my rims ain’t too…””

    oh Jesus be a fence.

  • My DSL went out (it’s storming here) before I could respond to the comments.

Teacia, congrats on your new position–girl I’m in a red mustang and I might have to paint it blue too…lol…but seriously though I’m glad you got the position and everything seems to be working out.

Jac, I can’t wait to hear your exciting news, because it’s going to happen (keep the faith…smile).

  • “oh Jesus be a fence”

I am sooo gonna worksite that

    im laughin ova here

  • @ Shelia

“Even if others doubt that your goals aren’t obtainable—the only thing that matters is—DO YOU THINK THEY ARE OBTAINABLE? If you do, then you must take action (and the key word here is ACTION) towards those goals.

    this is gospel.

    @ Mik

its not mine LOL..so don’t cite my @zz lol

  • ““oh Jesus be a fence”

    LOL…now that was funny.

Yeah Mikki, I thought that by paying off all of my reoccuring bills for the year it was going to get rid of a chunk of cash that I could use for other things, but that freedom cleared the financial clutter in my mind and make room for more prosperity.

Yeah Sheila I have a red vert as well, but after the gate hit it I have to get it painted over anyways(another small HOA settlement), I’m actually thinking about going with black this time or I may just stick with red.

Man October was a hard month.

Did I tell yall that my baby daddy told me on Sunday that he had a baby on Thursday and that was why he couldn’t help me buy our daughter a new bed set…3 days after the birth, how trifling is that!

  • way to go Teacia.

Comeback i love how positive you are about everything. you are such an inspiration to try and change my outlook on things and stay positive. :o )

  • lmao comeback whose worksite is that??

some one needs credit because that was ridiculously funny

Did I tell yall that my baby daddy told me on Sunday that he had a baby on Thursday and that was why he couldn’t help me buy our daughter a new bed set

    Teacia

    STFU!! (worksite jac)

    oh hell no

hell to the mutha fuggin no!!

    *just died* worksite (nicki)

  • “Comeback i love how positive you are about everything. you are such an inspiration to try and change my outlook on things and stay positive. :o )

@ Q..trust and believe i have my moments…but my life works ALOT better when I look on the brighter side of life.

  • “People don’t realize how what they do with money now affects the future, and when you do right by your money, whether its giving, paying off debt, paying bills on time or just plain being responsible, it will comeback 10 fold, I have learned this and this is a principle i intend to apply for the rest of my life.”

@ Mik I agree..I’m a tither and I truly believe that I am blessed abundantly as a result of me knowing where my blessings come for. All of my needs are supplied and even some of my wants. ;)

  • “All of my needs are supplied and even some of my wants”

    thats the truth right there!!

  • Yep, that’s how he told me…unbelievable. But hey, God knew what he was doing when he removed me from that destructuve relationsip.

  • I would like to take a moment to bless the heavens for allowing me to find the phone number to the girl who did my hair the day i quit the celibates!!

she hooked a sister up and its time for a redo!!

  • LEASONS LEARNED TODAY:
Well, I didn’t really learn it yesterday or Tuesday for that matter, but it’s become a lot clearer.

    1. Dream bigger. If you can dream it, it can happen.

    2. God is great and he always has a plan and it works in his time. Four years ago when Bush was reelected there were many wondering, “how could this be.” Often, in the time of struggle, we forgot how great God is. If Bush wasn’t the President for 8 years, we would not have seen this day. We might not always like the plan or be able to see what’s ahead. It might take us years to see why God did what he did, but if we hold on…
God showed me on Tuesday that no matter what the situation is…He has a plan…and he says in Jeremiah 29:11 (The Message): “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”

…things really had to get this bad in order for people to be open to change. This was another lesson of trust for me…and that not just for America…but God has a plan for all of us individually according to the scripture above.

  • ya’ll i dont know if i can do this work thing one handed.

  • To piggyback off of Jolie I’ve dug into some bible study notes that have always stuck with me:

***Don’t walk by sight but walk by faith. Know how to look at your situation. God does not release visions to those who can’t be trusted. If you have a vision that you can afford, then it’s just an idea. Your vision is supposed to be bigger than your budget. If it’s God’s will, then it’s God’s bill. Even if don’t nobody else see what you are seeing, don’t stop seeing.*****

I love the part about how your vision is supposed to be bigger than your budget

  • @jolie
amen to the bush thing. people realized that they could not let this happen again….bush had to eff up something bad for this change we have today.

  • Now I have to catch up… I was wondering where you guys where… Stanks 80s. …. Geez the ONLY one who thought me.

I’m drinking my water, I’m not salty.

Wow… Simple yet profound. Exactly why we love you whyso.

  • Damn. I’m still reading… Congrats on the job T.

  • @ Nik… I had to look out for me fellow Kentuckian…

** Disclaimer I still claim being an Ohioan******

  • “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” ”

Jolie, now Jeremiah 29:11 is my scripture right there… my Sunday School teacher gave me that when I told them about the whole Celibacy thing…

  • “If it’s God’s will, then it’s God’s bill”

    You ain’t never lied 80s…

And thanks girl… Like I claim Kentuckiana (b/c I now live in Indiana) we can make up one for you:
    Ken-hio-an. LOL

  • “Bite me Mik. LOL”

if i was humble, whyso, or jfly, id ask you “where?” but im not so im just gonna keep it moving

    *blank stare*

where are those guys anyways??? what happen to that fruitcup that visited us that one time?

  • “if i was humble, whyso, or jfly, id ask you “where?” but im not so im just gonna keep it moving”

haaaaa. you are such a freak now that celibacy has been thrown to the chicken coup. j/k Mik-a-licious.

  • @Everyone

I see men that always seem to have somebody hating and keeping them from doing them. I see women that keep meeting knuckleheads and having relationships fail yet they scream they are a catch. Why is it so hard for some people to look at themselves critically and hold themselves accountable for their decisions?

  • “I see women that keep meeting knuckleheads and having relationships fail yet they scream they are a catch. Why is it so hard for some people to look at themselves critically and hold themselves accountable for their decisions?”

Dang HUMBLE. Did you just call me out? J/K

    Hmmmmm…. thinking over here.

  • Sorry to get interrupt your programs but I just saw something that gave me tears and I need to share:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPsNi1k8Df4

    Jump to the 2:50 mark.

  • Humble my dear sir, what’s wrong?

  • I can’t stand the victims…. one of my associates is FOREVER playing the victim… I just want to choke her.

Humble has me over here thinking… when I’m whining about being single, am I playing victim??? Hmmm… I can’t determine this one.

  • @Teacia
“Humble my dear sir, what’s wrong?”

    Why do you ask that?

  • lmao @ Nicki I got a request from sbm asking me to join acm(anti celibacy movement) and I was like hell to the no!! I know im not celibate no more but im for damn sure not joinin tho hoe’n and trickin club!!!

    (side bar)

Nicki I think what humble means speaks to those that currently are dating someone they know aint ish then crying wolf, your currently single and seeking a man that fits into your value system, I don’t find that wrong at all.

  • Further more to expound on humble, or repeating… ie look at yourself before you go making claims that men aint shit, because it might just be you and not them.

if your picking the wrong dudes don’t chalk it up to men aint shit until you look in the mirror to see yourself and why you are attracting said men that ain shit in the first place.

  • @Anitra
“Nicki I think what humble means speaks to those that currently are dating someone they know aint ish then crying wolf, your currently single and seeking a man that fits into your value system, I don’t find that wrong at all”

Correct. The only time what Nicki is doing is wrong is when your value system is flawed.

  • @MikL LOL . I know im not celibate no more but im for damn sure not joinin tho hoe’n and trickin club!!!

Never that club membership! What’s the monthly fee… a trip to the clinic???

“Nicki I think what humble means speaks to those that currently are dating someone they know aint ish then crying wolf”

And thanks for clearning that up for me… I was seriously over here analyzing… you know how women do. ;)

  • hey comeback…

You are right. When you do what you love to do, you do enjoy life more. There are times though, where hard work (coupled with smart work) will HAVE to be done. I hate cleaning the kitchen, but in order to enjoy what I am doing, it will have to be done. That’s more what I was talking about

I love your view on things…it’s great to find someone else with the same mindset. :-D

  • It’s just that your comment was so left field…or did I miss something previously stated.

Nicki I saw that video about 2 weeks ago and watched it everyday for a week just to lift my spirits.

  • Yea and I don’t want to get all woo woo up in through (worksite comeback) but she constantly reiterates that you are what you attract, the negativity in that statement doesn’t suggest that you are a bad person, but I think when it means that when you attract bad men it just means you haven’t looked deep inside yourself and fessed up to the fact that you like the men you attract in some sick and twisted way.

nobody seeks out men that suck, but you are seeking qualities you like in a man, sometimes we lack balance.

like dating pretty boys sometimes comes with its issues as with pretty women, you can say all pretty men and women totally suck and not acknowledge that you have a strong attraction to them. did that make sense?

  • @T: That video had me in tears… girl, I can’t describe how I reacted when I first watched it but THANK GOD my door is closed.

What would make that girl put something like that out there?

  • “she constantly reiterates that you are what you attract, the negativity in that statement doesn’t suggest that you are a bad person, but I think when it means that when you attract bad men it just means you haven’t looked deep inside yourself and fessed up to the fact that you like the men you attract in some sick and twisted way.”

I think what I’ve learned is to listen to the inner voice and stop giving every body the benefit of the doubt. LOL. Note to self: When he only calls you at night to come over, you are the jump off. Let this one ride out. End note. ;)

  • lmao Nicki you are telling the truth, we be trying to make something outta nothing!!!!!

    shame shame on us!!

    argggg

  • “lmao Nicki you are telling the truth, we be trying to make something outta nothing!!!!!”

Girl, hear?? Thinking I can suck or f*** my way into love… yep.. doesn’t work. EVER.

  • Thinking I can suck or f*** my way into love…

    “i just died right there”

    worksite nicki

  • @Mik: ;) Da Truf I’s be spittin on Deez streets.

that looks like something on someone’s myspace profile. LOL

oh wait i was already not doing shat, never mind carry on…..

  • @Teacia
“It’s just that your comment was so left field…or did I miss something previously stated.”

I thought my comment was in line with the topic.

  • “Thinking I can suck or f*** my way into love… yep.. doesn’t work. EVER.”

    Makes good practice though.

  • Humble, you freak. LOL. It’s like riding a bike. You never forget.

  • @ All

Did yall get papers from yesterday?

  • @ all

Humble, did you cross over??? what’s going on here?

  • I dunno Nicki but I need him to confirm asap!!!

he is talkin like an outsider

  • LOL @ talking like an outsider, Mik.

I think Humble’s just as ho-nay as he always is… I don’t think he’s super duper elated about this celibacy thing.

  • No response

    dun dun dun!!

*attempting to create drama while everyone is away stuffin there faces with food*

  • I did… At first I thought I wasn’t going to get one because my friend was telling me they were sold out everywhere…. So yesterday I’m at the dealership gettin an oil change and they just have all these scattered newspapers….So I “politely” put Obama’s coverage section in my purse….. But then I felt bad and when the lady came to get me I asked if it was alright if I took it…. When she said yea then I went back and got the rest…. Hell, I’m in KY a red state obviously nobody else wanted them…. And how come in this same newspaper a man was quoted as saying “I’m a Democrat and I voted for McCain. I just don’t trust that colored fellow”… Like was he for real???… It’s 2008 and we’re still getting called colored!!! Seriously though “colored fellow”!!!!

  • Girl, boo… I ate Special K… AGAIN while talking to you. ;)

  • Hey QB girl stop being gost!

Nicki bless you and Special K, you are doing it big, i might need to join yall club lol.

  • “I’m a Democrat and I voted for McCain. I just don’t trust that colored fellow””

Wow…. colored…. colored will get your arse whooped.

@Nicki: I’m praying this pays off… but I will be in a swimsuit REGARDLESS. LOL

  • lmao Nicki I done told you about talkin to yourself doc

  • @Anitra
“why does my 3rd eye tell me humble crossed over to the acmc??”

your 3rd eye has glaucoma. I’m still holding down the veep position with honor and dignity.

  • @Mik: Sometimes you just have to get yourself on tract. ;)

  • sorry Mikki. really hard to type. i broke my wrist tuesday so i cant type between calls like i use to :(

  • Well gone ‘head and carry that torch sexxayyy!

  • @nickisunshine
“I think Humble’s just as ho-nay as he always is… I don’t think he’s super duper elated about this celibacy thing.”

Thats right. I’m still ruining draws and bedsheets everynight.

  • “Thats right. I’m still ruining draws and bedsheets everynight”

    Revolting yet tantalizing. LOL

  • @QB
“sorry Mikki. really hard to type. i broke my wrist tuesday so i cant type between calls like i use to ”

    what happened?

  • aww sorry QB

    “your 3rd eye has glaucoma”

@Humble I dunno maybe the legalizing of marijuana will help that

  • @nickisunshine
    “Revolting yet tantalizing. LOL”

    do u mean repulsing?

  • @Anitra
“Humble I dunno maybe the legalizing of marijuana will help that”

Yeah and you know you can find that in Detroit as easy you can find someone unemployed.

  • @mikki: lmao @ Nicki I got a request from sbm asking me to join acm(anti celibacy movement) and I was like hell to the no!! I know im not celibate no more but im for damn sure not joinin tho hoe’n and trickin club!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I cant keep up today ..went into a meeting and now i’m lost again ..

  • “repulsing?”

@Humble: LOL. I did…. good grief I dunno what’s wrong me today… (NICK, GET IT TOGETHER!)

  • wondering if Nicki been smokin the sticky icky today?????

  • I’ve had an imaginary smoke. Oh, the children’s syrup… that’s exactly what is wrong with me.. I thought since I was a whole heaping 100+ pounds bigger than a child, it’d have no effect… but notsomuch.

  • @humble i fell off a curb on my way downtown to watch election results.

  • where is comeback?

  • Wow QB… where you drankin?

  • @Anitra
“its ok I eat flinstones vitamins YOU have to take that seriously, the kid stuff aint no jokey joke”

u eat flintstones? they’re vitamins not skittles

  • @Mik: Not flinstones… girl, I’m crackin up… I remember being a kid and pretending they were my “pill” like old folks take. LOL

My mom told me to take a half a teaspoon but I drank that stuff [kidding took one whole teaspoon]. I’m try’n to knock these allergies out STAT.

    @ Hum

im here yo..I was tryna find another copy of yesterday’s wash post.

    Let me read yalls. Comments.

  • “same reason I keep daydreaming of s3x and not gonna get any. LOL”

this is exactly why no one is payin us any attention today lol

  • @ Jolie

I’m jumpin around like my true ADD nature..i don’t know if i agree with this totally. I think God wants what you want. But it has to be in alignment with your purpose. How do you know when you;re living in your flow….people, places, things come out of nowhere to help. I think the universe works pretty quickly for your good. As long as you are aligned.

Since Im the only dam#n person who saw “W”..oh me and Jac..anyway. You will find and remember (as probably what you’ve read or heard in other bios of the Bush clan”

BEING PRESIDENT WAS NOT “W”’s passion. It was his Daddy’s dream for JEB. W only wanted to please “Poppi”. And when you are doing work that isn’t in your purpose…you will find that you will make complete shyt out of it.

  • comeback I did see W and im sorry I couldn’t focus cuz i kept laughin at the facial expressions of ms rice.

  • ““same reason I keep daydreaming of s3x and not gonna get any. LOL”

this is exactly why no one is payin us any attention today lol”

Between cough syrup and gummie vitamin talk, can’t say I blame them. LMAO

  • lmao right Nicki can’t blame comeback if she reads up n gets pissed off lol, like what the hell???

  • @ all…

I love gummie stuff too… But they say gummie type of candy is the worst for your teeth…. But Nick I tend to get carried away with the gummie lifesavers too….. But I can eat any brand… But I can’t stand knockoff licorice!!! Yuck that’s something I can’t do…. Just give me Twizzlers.

  • @ Why

” hate cleaning the kitchen, but in order to enjoy what I am doing, it will have to be done”

i rebuke this cause if i don’t feel like doing it..

    thenimmacallmerrymaidorsomebodys@zz…

  • @Mik: I know cause we done jumped to twelve diff topics.

@80s: Ew.. I can’t get with you on licowice… but I’m a twizzlers fan… have you had the flavored ones?

What about me just walking out of my bosses office and I see Fat Albert and friends- dipped in bleach (I guess they’re going to FINALLY lay down carpet today), staring at me like horny school boys. People get on my NERVES.

  • Mik: LMAO. Making me spit out my gum.

“Nah, nah, nah, we gonna have a good taaaaaaammmme”

  • Ya’ll this may be on topic and it may not be but I just got accepted back into my Alma Mater to complete my second degree!! I finished the first now I am finishing this one!! Next stop is Business School in the Fall… depending on what I get on the GMAT on Saturday!!

  • Hey hey Holly…That is fan-freakin-tastic girl! ;)

  • go Holly its ya birthday! you goin to law school?

  • Congrats Holly :) Good luck on the GMAT Saturday!!!!!

  • Yay for Holly I’m thinking about doing the GMAT as well!

Let me know how it goes.

  • THANK YA’LL!! I am doing the running man!!!

I am going back to complete my B.A. in English (concentration: creative writing- literature)!! Then going next fall for my MBA!! Hopefully I can get a great freakin’ score on Saturday (I am sooooooo nervous!)!! I am sending out my apps tomorrow to at least get conditional acceptance! The biggest decision for me has been do I go back to grad school full time or part time. I already work within the Financial Services field so wouldn’t really need the internships and stuff… but the networking would be hella good!!

    GOD IS GOOD!!!

  • @Holly: Jucandoit!

who can guess what movie I got that from?

  • @nickisunshine
    “Humble: Read this…. http://www.threewaystotakeit.com/

Kinda puts me in the mindframe of what I think you were trying to say yesterday.”

That is what I was trying to say. Let the kicking of my ass commence.

  • “That is what I was trying to say. Let the kicking of my ass commence”

Put a sock in it. No one is kicking your arse. ;) But I do pinch.

  • Thx Nicki!!!

  • @ Holly….. I think it depends on you and how well you manage your time. When I was pursuing my MPA I was working 40 hours a week and taking 3 classes a week…. But I could handle it. I don’t mind burning the midnight oil finishing those extra chapters or writing a paper….. But my friend is working on her MPA now and she’s only taking 2 classes a week and she is suffering because her time managment skills suck…..

But you know yourself better than anybody else so do what you think it’s best for you :)

  • “@Holly: Jucandoit!

@Humble: To knock you out. Come on now Detroit pimpin.

  • lmao Nicki he said that like he thought you might say somethin like

“to get you out the club thats what”

    hee hee hee

  • ***** Sorry for the interruption****

But I’m reading the USA today sports section and they have all the NFL players salaries listed…. I then skip over a few pages and there’s an article talking bout the athlete’s reaction……

Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings says “It’s a sad day for me. I’m a McCain supporter. There is nothing I can do about it now. Our paychecks will be cut in half”

So then I flip back to see his salary and this dude $21,119,256…….. And he’s complaining!!!

Anyhow I was kind of thinking this dude was one of us.. But whew I found his picture and he’s not… But still this dude makes over 20 million and is complaining… That’s some unappreciative mess right there..

  • ““to get you out the club thats what””

LOL. Humble know both he and my legs are on lock.

@80s: It seems like sports players are greedy bastards always asking for more money..

TT yaw in about thirty minutes.

  • @ all… Let me know if yall want to know anybody’s salary and I can hit yall right back with that info… LOL…. I wonder why it’s all posted in the paper like this anyway.

  • lmao 80’s and they are exaggerating about the tax hikes anyways, get a fuggin clue they act like they are about to be robbed. smh @ that…..

    ignorance is such bliss

  • @80’s
“That’s some unappreciative mess right there..”
I couldn’t get the story straight off the top of my head so i wiki’d it:
On October 31, 2004, the Minnesota Timberwolves offered [Latrell] Sprewell a 3-year, $21 million contract extension, substantially less than what his then-current contract paid him. Insulted, he publicly vented his outrage, declaring, “I have a family to feed.”

what is this n!ggas family eatting? solid gold condor eggs?

I work in a congressional office. The Joint Congressional Committee which is responsible for planning Inauguration 2009, has informed me that any website you may “google” such as http://www.inauguralticket s.com or greatseats.com etc. is FRAUDULENT. These prices are too high and these sites are not legit!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR $!!!

Please visit inaugural.senate. gov and subscribe to their mailing list to be in the loop. Then call your member of congress (representative or senator) for tickets to the swearing-in ceremony only. These tickets are limited because each member gets a fixed amount. Members are not providing food, lodging or transportation along with the swearing-in tickets. Nor are we allowed to mail the tickets to your residence. You will have to pick them up from the office you requested them from before the Inauguration Proceedings. So hurry they are going fast in every office.

  • Personally you can distribute wealth all ya want to and its not going to help much if the folks you are distributing to are uneducated and don’t know what to do with it.

I don’t care as long as you distribute some to me lol

I mean all I need is AMILLI!!!!!

    LOL

  • “what is this n!ggas family eatting? solid gold condor eggs?”

    Now that was funtee

  • @ cuzzo….. Exactly… Just greedy!!!!

@ Mik… That’s just like when they distributed the money from FEMA after Katrina. They were saying how some people were using thre money on Louis Vuitton’s and stuff…. Now I’m not judgin anybody but this goes back to what you said about “Personally you can distribute wealth all ya want to and its not going to help much if the folks you are distributing to are uneducated and don’t know what to do with it.”

I just don’t think that was the wisest choice in that situation. Because that purse can’t feed nor clothe you.

  • @Anitra
“lmao Nicki he said that like he thought you might say somethin like

“to get you out the club thats what””

Wrong. Did Stevie Wonder give you your 3rd eye?

  • “Did Stevie Wonder give you your 3rd eye?”

ack ack ack, you are so comical Humble in my sarcastic voice lol.

@cuzzo just wow I did not know that

  • @Anitra
    “ack ack ack”

i hope thats not your real laugh.

  • @Anitra
when i first heard about it, I was thinking this negro done lost his damn mind…nevermind he choked the hell outta one of his coaches years before that. he should feel lucky anyone wants him on their team

  • @ all… So i’m now just reading the web and I came across an article…. And now I’m pondering.

What the heck does this mean:

“Actually, the elegant and disciplined Obama, who is not descended from the central African-American experience but who has nonetheless embraced it and been embraced by it, has the chance to make the White House pristine again.”

Here’s the link maybe you can help me figure it out…
    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/06/opinion/06dowd.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&oref=slogin

  • @80’s
    “And now I’m pondering.”
i don’t wanna think right now…I’m about to leave work.

  • what it do kids?

  • “what is this n!ggas family eatting? solid gold condor eggs?”

    This was funny as hell….

so was your insult about the Stevie Wonder third eye Hum

  • I feel some kinda way about Humble insulting Stevie….

    Hmmm…

Man it’s like 80 degrees here

  • It’s pretty warm here too.. not quite 80 but def something nice for November.

  • its cold outside here but limping around is making me sweat a ton. it sucks.

  • have a good night treehouse! GOING TO HAPPY HOUR! then an open bar from 9-11… hopefully work tomorrow but I DOUBT IT !

  • DO YOU THINK THEY ARE OBTAINABLE?

Great line here. I wonder do the women that allow men to stay in their pads while they continue to screw up think that whatever goal they had in that realtionship was obtainable or did they sell themselves short for convenience?

Or as Comeback said was he “HOH material” or was he just instant dick?

I say that to say lets look at “The Obama’s” as a couple.

Black boys are always ridiculed for being smart or intellectual. Yet Michelle married a man with two Ivy League degrees…not because of his street pedigree or he looks like he can kick a nigga ass!!!.

However todays very impatient AMERICAN women wants Barak to be President Ready when she arrives on campus. Yet to become who Barak is took 47 years!!!! In our current culture America for some reason doesnt like Intellects, and it isnt new. In Raisng In The Sun, Poiter’s character lambast his sisters date (George with the “faggoty white shoes”) who is of course a college student.

I also feel our communites discourage black boys from being intellectual-I was teased by girls and boys but I fought the boys but the girls well it took a loooong time-say to high school for them to see that being smart had nothing to do with my manhood. IMO it made it better.

Perhaps this victory will kill the dumb shit about how “I did it and I didnt go to college” well nice but everyone I know with out a college degree has the average life (and skill set) to go with it (I am a native and resident of NYC).

Also maybe dudes will stop pimping their education to get some on the side…I didnt vote for Barack cuz he ’s got degrees I voted for him because any intellect knows he knows nothing at all. He will surround himself with experts in their respective fields (as opposed to Bush appointing “Brownee” to the FEMA role yet he was horse trainer prior to it).

He will (and did so during the banking crisis) ASK questions, (something you women fail to do when in love with these “no good men”) just because you are “in” doesnt mean you stop asking questions.

In the end, this moment should also remind us that how he got here was through sheer sacrifice.

How many of us up here are ready to support a SO through such a task?

Remember we are the “remote control-gotta have it now-microwave generation”. If it aint happening when we arrive something must be wrong with it!!!

  • @ temps

“Remember we are the “remote control-gotta have it now-microwave generation”. If it aint happening when we arrive something must be wrong with it!!!

this post is coming seriously MONDAY. I’m not looking for a man to come to me ready to run in 2012. With ALL his shyt together on the NY times best seller, running 10 business, teachin at harvard business. Namely because I want to be by his side getting those things. Loving the process. the destination is no real fun. the process is.

    BUT

there are attributes…real attributes that translate into HOH, a great boyfriend, an even A better life partner/husband, to me which pretty much dang near ensures the above.

and we miss them time and time again

  • @Comeback…”the couple that builds together stays together” at least one would hope so.

When I was two years short of my B.S. my would be GF decided that a guy 14 yrs her senior with four kids and house to go with it was her ideal man. No, stuggling with the child-free, soon to be graduate was just not what she was accustomed to.

And what is she accustomed to?

See her dad brought her car and her grandmother left her a house on Fulton St in Brooklyn.

Yea but she’s an “independent woman”.

Whats disturbing is I have run into hordes of young black women like ole girl.

They state “independence” but omit that they were set up with an Adult Starter Kit. I guess thats why they dont want the guy living with moms as he matriculates out of school and matriculate he did!!!!

To do it I worked the entire ten years it took to get my degree. No car-no handouts, jobs with no benny’s. As I have mentioned I got 1ok worth of film equipment all alone.

The women I dated wanted to support me by buying me clothes (once again our generation cant get off the dick of Materialism..which has got to be one of the Seven Deadly Sins).

So ladies is this how we support one another?

He can move in but not be of any substance. As I said in other replies, ALL of the couples I know that shack its Her pad and She’s got the degree.

Him: An hourly job (usually high teen double digits)-maybe a car (usually top of the line-or in between…but not a hooptie) but dream-plan-college?

    Nope…nothing-just work-get paid-sex you and repeat.

He barely got the D in his GED exam, whats his big gotta be “my man” factor?

As long as he is not “real thug-nigga” dangerous and keeps the sex up, its all good…..until the baby is born…and then he gets “funny” and then you realized wow 8yrs, an innocent life throw into the fire and NOW you see he NEVER loved you.

As I said before I know more degreed baby mothers having the baby right after college and the BD is looong gone. Than I know young uneducated women having babies.

Status maybe middle class but priorities are ghetto…and what do you say to the kid?

“No I never loved your father/mother you were only born cause….”

I could never understand how some sisters make strugglin with a brother and yall both in the same boat above her time and attention. How come we cant eat Raman Noodles together and share the sweet tea in your place this week and then my place next week? Or combine the best of our interest and meet in the middle?

Now I think-with my accomplishments and all, some women are really feeling my “Stats” she wasnt there for the struggle-oh how convenient.

I always thought its “what are you struggling for” that made the difference.

Think on it you got women up here saying they wont date a brother that makes such and such (but never state Why he is making too low of an income he could saving “seed money” for his business) but they get with his Dumb Ass Counterpart who has just enough “stuff” to provide the excuse to choose him.

Then come to find that “Dumb Ass”-only cares about himself…lets see the Escalade-PSP and PS3 and every pair of Timbs and sneakers ever plus his closet is full of sports apparel but he dont own a suit none of this didnt give you pause that CEO materail he is not?

You want to know what a man is about two things:

What was the LAST thing he read and what does he FREQUENTLY read. Two; what is he willing to sacrifice to get his dream..of course he has to have a dream and the plan to back it up. If he is any kind of leader it will be shown in the lit that he reads and if aint reading NOTHING then thats your “boo”.
